Crisis intervention program services are available to anyone in need 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Professional counseling staff and trained volunteers (on hotline services only) are available to listen, provide support and make referrals on a wide range of issues. Crisis intervention counseling is available by phone or in person for anyone in need of immediate assistance with a personal, situational, or mental health crisis. Services are free of charge and confidential.

The Crisis Intervention Service is certified by the American Association of Suicidology.
Shelter
Services:
Grassroots is the first point of contact for all general
shelter requests in Howard County. Grassroots operates a 20-bed shelter for
families and adult women, a 12-bed shelter for adult men, and a 12-bed
transitional housing program for families. All shelter residents have access to comprehensive services designed to
help each of them achieve permanent housing including case management;
individual and group counseling; addictions evaluation and referral for
treatment; psychiatric evaluation and treatment; health services provided by a
volunteer physician; legal services provided by volunteer attorneys;
children’s activities; transportation; meals; assistance finding jobs and
housing; assistance obtaining SSI and SSD for those eligible; money management
and savings plans, and numerous other activities.
