About Grassroots
Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center provides free
24-hour telephone and walk-in crisis counseling, emergency shelter,
transitional housing, and community education in the Central Maryland
area.
Who Are We?
Grassroots is a private, non-profit human service
agency serving Howard County and Central Maryland. Founded in 1969,
Grassroots evolved from an all volunteer organization to a
professionally staffed multi-service crisis intervention center. We have
about 50 full and part time staff, numerous volunteers, and a volunteer
Board of Directors. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days
a year.
Grassroots receives funding through a variety of
sources including Federal, State, and local government, United Way of
Central Maryland, private foundations, individual and corporate
donations, and special fundraising events. We are registered with the
Maryland Secretary of State as a non-profit organization. Our
registration number is 356.
