Weinberg Foundation Awards Grant to Grassroots

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc. has presented a 2-year Maryland Small Grants Program award to Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center.  The grant of $40,000 is intended to fund crisis intervention programs and support services for low income families and individuals in Howard County.

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation is one of the largest private foundations in the United States. Its purpose is to assist low-income and vulnerable individuals and families through nonprofit grants to direct-service providers and programs.

Grassroots provides the county’s only emergency shelter and 24-hour crisis intervention services. Professional crisis counselors staff Grassroots’ 24-hour hotline; see walk-in clients in need of immediate counseling; operate the Mobile Crisis Team, which responds to community emergencies, and manage the county’s emergency shelter for homeless men, women and families.
