Empty Bowls Event at WLHS Raises Money for Grassroots

wlBefore the holidays, the National Art Honor Society and Culinary Department at Wilde Lake High School hosted “Soup: Empty Bowls 2015,” a community fundraiser for Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center.

Soups were made fresh by Culinary Department students, and the ceramic soup bowls were created by National Art Honor Society members. All of the proceeds from the event went to Grassroots, Howard County’s only 24-hour crisis center and homeless shelter.

Among the turnout for SOUP: Empty Bowls 2015 were (from l.) Grassroots Board Members Carol Ann Speed Smith, Barry Frieman, Sheryl Ziporkin, Ellsworth Jones III, Executive Director Andrea Ingram, Board President Mary Lasky and Board Member Lisa Kawata.
