Columbia Fraternity Buys Household Items for Grassroots

Kappa Alpha Psi purchases tarps, charcoal grill, blankets and towels with grant funds

Twenty tarps for the Grassroots Day Resource Center, a charcoal grill, 30 blankets and bath towels were recently delivered to Freetown Road by members of the Columbia, MD Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The items were purchased with funds from a $1,000 grant the fraternity received on behalf of Grassroots, Howard County’s 24-7 crisis intervention center and shelter for the homeless.

Helping with the donations were (from l.) Donal Hogan, Grassroots Volunteer Coordinator Monteith Mitchell, Glen Griffin, Johnny Mathews and Nathaniel Knox, who led the grant solicitation. The fraternity regularly prepares dinner meals for Grassroots and this year provided Father’s Day gifts for the male residents.
