Grassroots is Recognized for Changing Lives!

Recently, Grassroots was honored for its lifesaving work and expansion on four separate occasions.

This month, Grassroots was recognized for our expansion of services to our new crisis center at 8990 OId Annapolis Road. We were presented with an honorary resolution by County Councilperson Opel Jones. It reads, in part: “[T]he County Council of Howard County, Maryland, commends the Grassroots staff, volunteers, and donors on their exemplary commitment to the provision of emergency shelter, mental health services, and substance use disorder services to our residents.”

We received special honors from Congressman John Sarbanes to celebrate our expansion and move to our new location at 8990 Old Annapolis Road. The certificate recognizes our “commitment to provide 24/7 single point access for behavioral health, crisis and homeless services for individuals and families” and offers “deep gratitude and appreciation for [our] dedicated team members and [our] continued efforts to meet to the crisis intervention demands in Howard County.”

Delegate Jessica Feldmark visited Grassroots and granted us with a wonderful citation on behalf of the Howard County delegation in the Maryland General Assembly. According to the citation, Grassroots is being recognized for our “unwavering efforts to provide housing, mental health services and a wide variety of emergency resources to Howard County and beyond.”

In September, Grassroots was celebrated by the Howard County Council with an Honorary Resolution. It notes that September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month and recognizes Grassroots’ ongoing work to “offer support to those who are struggling and coping with the effects of suicide, provide training to prevent suicide, and increase awareness of mental health.” Thank you so much to Council Chairperson Christiana Mercer Rigby, as well as the other members of the County Council.

We are so proud of our team members who work tirelessly to support individuals in Howard County and those throughout the country who contact us via the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. They are truly life savers! Thank you also to all of donors, partners and supports for allowing us to serve the community and for helping us to be successful in our charge to change lives!
